And so it begins

“It all begins with an idea.” - Squarespace - I didn’t delete this bit because I thought it would make a good opening! So here it is, my blog and website! Did I need one of these? no not really. Did I get bored and did my girlfriend suggest doing this? No not even that, the website yeah, but the blog, not the blog. But here we are and I’m writing a blog!

Today is December 5th and I’m setting this website up. Future outings and photos and other things will go here.

But for now I’ll mention my recent outing to see the Rail Adhesion Trains on the London Underground! First I met up with a good friend of mine and we headed out into the depths of East London. This RAT is formed of an old 1962 Stock set very similar to that of the West End RAT both of which are on the Central Line. We saw the East End RAT through Barkingside, Woodford and Epping.

After all of this we decided to scope out one of the other RAT sets, this one being the Metropolitan Line RAT. This set is formed of a D78 Stock set which used to work the District Line. These RAT duties used to be run by an A Stock set which I saw in October 2017 in it’s last year of service (Video Here). Since the withdrawal of D Stocks on the District, the RAT duties of the Metropolitain have been run effortlessly by these still fairly reliable and still mostly original machines. Here we sat the set through Moor Park, Ruislip and Harrow-On-The-Hill.

And so after seeing this lot, it was time to head home as the sun was setting on quite an eventful day. Thank you for reading to the end and even if you did just look at the photos. Feel free to contact me over on Twitter or Instagram about how you feel about this blog! I’ll be posting as soon as I’m done with this sentence!
